Fibre repair team advised services should start restoring in the next 45 min and final ETR is 19:30 local Adelaide time.
Excavation work has uncovered the damaged section of cabling at a depth of 3.5 metres. Inclement weather continues to be a factor during remediation works. We expect to progress to the fibre cable replacement phase shortly after which splicing activities will commence. Due to the ongoing complex nature of this repair we are not able to provide an ETR at this stage.
Engineers have investigated further and found that the break occurred due to a pipe being installed by local contractors near the railway corridor, resulting in a fibre cut underground.
Civil excavation will begin soon to expose and repair the damaged fibre.
Field engineers have conducted OTDR testing and located the issue at a construction site.
They have begun excavating the pit to isolate the fibre.
Due to the complex nature of the break and extreme weather conditions, there is a delay in the isolation process.
Initial investigation indicates an alarm, likely caused by a potential inland fibre break between Adelaide and Perth. Field teams have been dispatched to site and are currently en-route, to conduct further testing and isolation.
We have detected an nbn outage in Port Augusta SA and surrounding areas, Engineers are investigating the cause of this outage and updates will be provided as soon as they come to hand.
